The Rush

On Love

I was briskly rushing through life, but then you stood at the door

I ran into you, crashed. Fell hard upon the ruthless floor

You watched me collapse and tumble, emotions scattered all about

My fear, my anger, my sorrow and all of my doubt

I scrambled to my feet, hoping that you wouldn’t see

But my heart was tangled in yours and I couldn’t break free

You picked my tattered happiness from the cold-hearted ground

And told me “It’s when we’re not looking that rapture can be found”

I held onto it all ablaze and in my palms it grew.

I looked into your eyes and in that gaze I simply knew

This moment right now, this moment right here is where I want to be

Life is always better when you’re tangled up with me.
