Fairy

Entry

~*~

Trailing off

Amongst the

Daffodils

~*~

Oversown patch

Curious hill

Dry, thatching grass

Gold dots, taupe ruts

~*~

Trumpets like the sun

Hear a truncated

Brassy blasting beat

Heat blows you away

Comb dripping honey

~*~

Blubbling up viscous sweet

Bubbles within bubbles

Slowly dribbling globule

Infinitely sticky

Golden preservation

For healing and sealing

~*~

Verdant foliage outgrowths

Instantaneously loom

Blossoming in rainbow hues

Petals swirl and float around

Velvet scent caress my heart

Flora reigns her scepter sharp

Thorns like daggers, roots like thought

~*~

Iridescence chartreuse on teal

Flashes of light detail reveal

Wings that flitter entrancing you

Conical swirls and starburst vines

Entice the eyes, delight the mind

Flying in a dizzying route

Fluttering by heart songs give shout

Notes tinkle down upon my head

~*~

I watch them dance and shuffle around

Sliding of their staff to laze about

Entangling slim stems and flags in knots

Knocking heads around like coconuts

Splitting and pouring like precious life

Drizzling milk out of a hair-line crack

Drops leaving marks on the spirit map

Wearing what grows like a wide-brimmed hat

Shielding my love from my jealous eyes

~*~

I say, be not afraid, be terrified

Liquid gold, distilled by the sands of time

Flowing from my electroplated mind

by strands of platinum, my hands are tied

Erupting through marmalade-crusted skies

Shower sparks through green meadow fairy rings

Perpetually singing my spring song

Tinkling and buzzing in your ears like bees

Plunging headfirst into the rushing stream

Slipping the bonds, shaking hands with the queen

To finish NaPoWriMo right, I thought I would share a finalized Decible. This poem is about transitioning to the Fairy realm, so it's the most abstract of the Decibles I have written so far.

I started developing the decible in the first place because while submitting poetry to literary journals and magazines, I found one that was looking for experimental poetry and new poetic forms. That was what sent me on this journey of poetic construction.

I may never be able to get one of these published, and the only people who ever recognize or write decibles may be on Medium and Vocal Media, but it has been one of the few projects that has given me a sense of accomplishment in my life.

No flower is a flower from the very beginning, and no flower remains a flower in the end. I once thought that the wind had an appointment and the flower would not miss it, year after year, we would not let each other down. Later, I realized that the blooming of a peanut is half a loss. Looking back on the past half of my life, it is seven parts sour and three parts sweet. In the end, let time be time, let the past be the past, let the beginning begin. Listen to the wind sing, watch the snow fall, wait for the flowers to bloom, and wait for spring to come!

I absolutely loved this! The form works well for the story of transitioning into the Fairy Realm. The images and lines have the space to gradually suck you in which led me at least to be completely absorbed by the poem. Really well done! And congrats on the well-deserved Top Story!!

This poem really does take you away, not just to a fairy kingdom but to something more alive. Your nature descriptions and that flow from the daffodils to the golden streams of consciousness are just beautiful. It's as though every word is supposed to be there, and the Decible form you created adds yet another dimension to it, which makes this poem feel even more personal. You've really built a world here, and I can feel the level of heart and soul that you poured into it. Even if it doesn't end up in a journal, this is something special, and I'm so glad you allowed us to view it.
