The Long Version

By Marc OBrienPublished 7 months ago 2 min read

Here I sit

Seething and resenting good old Brad Pitt

Who turned into a star

While I tend at a roadside bar

Into the wee hours

I showed the power

Drinks I did serve

As Brad chauffeurs the player named Merv

To the game show

Asking Brad, ‘who do you know?’

Suddenly, ‘I hear’

“Pour the sudsy beer!”

I bellow out, “Ralph!

Shut your mouth

Happy days came and went

Did you invest one bronze cent”

Just a penny for your thought

To the patron who fought

In the jungle, police conflict

A Civil War trick

Lured us in

Political patriot yelled, ‘something about a win’

Instead, many televised dead

While others found love, ran off to wed

Now the image that moves

Moral message it proves

That Brad Pitt had the look

That the writer described in their book

Telling a story

More theatrical then Povich, first name Maury

Talking the talk

Growing the golden grapevine stalk

Today, a racing tube Brad Pitt drives

All the girl's watching cry

And sigh

Brad Pitt, ‘he’s such a nice newsstand buy’

I leave my saloon

Stare at the moon

Picking up littered flyers

Nationally I do inquire

“What am I doing?

Who am I fooling?”

Opens the heaven

Spilling its big gulp bought at seven eleven

Cooling me down

With a tear drop sound

Exclaiming, “you are never a fool

Still swimming in the casting pool

Auditioning for the F1 movie version stream

Better than the mass marketed dream

Since your telling is true

It headlines you

And that is so cool

Let’s give a thumbs up, “hey”

Then say,

Remember the hook letter J

Brad Pit took that bait

While you set things straight

Keeping life honest and great

Listening to other’s needs

Planting barley seeds

Being the fantasy hunk

Getting the young ladies drunk”

To this I reply

Am I really a good guy

Having a physical six pack

And a financial friendly track

With enough spirit stored in the back

Time to shut things down

Confronting everyone’s stumbling frown

Spending another evening

Bobbing and weaving

Through conversing conversation

About Nascar racing

Time to turn off the advertising light

Shiny and bright

No need to fight

Since I am the guarded knight

Working the local social dive

Where characters are realistic and alive

celebrities
