Ezra's Hope
A Hopeful Holiday Poem
This is for Mikeydred's December prompt
****************************************
In the cold of winter, when skies turn gray,
Ezra sat, longing for bygone days
His wrinkled hands, weathered with time
He glanced out the window, as bells tolled a chime
****************************************
Hopelessness, a shroud, covered his soul
A weight too heavy, it took its toll
The city gripped, with cold embrace
But Ezra’s heart flickered, with fading trace
****************************************
Ezra frowned, as life passed with speed
It moved too fast to meet his needs
The young man cried, for want of love
For his soul’s reprieve, for Peace’s dove
****************************************
With shaking fingers, he tapped a reply
His spark reignited, his fire burned high
Comfort from community, albeit online
Sparkling solace in shared stories, through space and time
****************************************
The frost thawed, not by Sun’s golden grace
But by connection’s warm touch, a pixel-lit embrace
Ezra discovered Hope still blooms
In a virtual space, that dissolves all gloom.
