Every Breath

The Sound of First Frost

Lacy frost frames windows, blankets grass.

Ghostly trees point to gray skies.

Children bundle, waiting impatiently for first snow.

Giggles break the hushed silence borne of seasonal deference.

Every breath billows a chilly puff of winter magic.

Frozen steps cause crunches and slips.

Cold air freezes fingers and toes.

Red cheeks and runny noses signal time for warmth and hot chocolate.

Squealing for the door, leaving foggy wisps

with every breath.

Beautiful images. I can almost hear: "Giggles break the hushed silence borne of seasonal deference." Wonderful work.

This is so cozy and vivid. I could feel the chill in the air and see the winter scene come to life.

  • Mmmm, hot chocolate! I loved how vivid your imageries were!
