As deep in mythology as in outer space
The battle twixt Prometheus and Zeus
Continues apace.
One stole the other's fire and now he pays.
Zeus has but one saving grace.
An eagle eats out his liver and Zeus grows another
Right to the ends of his days.
Oh, and that tawdry cosmic affair between
Venus and Mars
Has turned about face.
What else could you expect but a cosmic farce
That is but a reflection of the comings and goings of the human race.
And as I sit as a sentinel on a rock
As lonely as a nun, or a priest on the run
Or an errant schoolboy in disgrace
I wander and I wonder and my mind runs amok.
And time is on my side, for out here in space,
There is no clock. I am a god called Eternity.

I like the mythology references. I wonder, where do gods go to die?
