Frozen, He stood breathing
But barely
Parted lips, failed at control
Soft quick darts of air were inefficient
Relief came when his lungs tore out
Opening from inside; a massive air way
Eyes slammed closed from the pain
As the new airway grew; and grew
Breathing came through center self,
No longer by throat and mouth
Each exhale carried pieces away
Slow breaths, deeply in; out – cloaked
Swirling among his own vapors,
Physically changing states
Weakening gravity’s pull
Could SHE see him dematerialize?
Escaping to the atmosphere
An internal investigation commenced
Directed inward, careful exploration
first with hands
Digging; Picking; feeling
curious reverberation
Finger tips arching with electric touch
The unforeseen circuit completed
Feedback increased; unease amplified
That compass needle spinning; interfered
Faster, faster, round and round
Panic rooted in the feet first
No longer aware of home
Fear clutched as a frozen hook
He could not let his heart disappear; drift away
Bloody hands held fast
He knew he was failing
Choking and killing himself
Restricted life blood; pinched and congealed
Knowing the only option; Absolute exposure
Slowly, cautiously, he extended fingers
Unprotected; vulnerable
Red living glow returned; the void matured
Wind ripping into his body
He sought a way out
Mentally prostrate
Rhythmic flesh vulnerable
He opened the soul; terrified
Chanced a look to see with eyes again
But SHE wasn’t moving
What was she doing?
He saw it!
She was cradling her heart too!
Her face pale; bloodless
He reached for her
Watching her quiver and shake
But would she believe?
How to communicate a trust
Have to offer HIS as collateral
Could he really do that?
She might not treat it well
or give it back
Eyes closed again
Probing insecurity
A cleansing breath
Inward with both hands; lifting
Squirming struggles calmed
Commitment turned to fearlessness
Across a great distance
he felt his heart
Separate with a metallic tingling
originating in teeth
Now outside the shell
his soul hope
But before he moved
something grabbed his hands
His eyes tore open in a flash
Greeted with a tearful smile
Her gazing colors spoke without words
Saying everything all at once
I’m scared – I’m choking – don’t hurt me!
Suffering the same struggle
Lowering his head
a last look
Such an ugly thing
bloody – sticky
No doubt would stain
Would it be enough?
Does she understand?
Would she accept?
A voice was birthed from hopefulness
And as he Looked up for her…
she was gone
Concern and confusion took him
Down by the knees
Her presence was still felt
She had to be close
Desire increased
His organ belonged in her care
But where did he put it?
No longer did his hands hold his heart
Where were his hands?
What was his body?!
No sensation; just awareness
Peace
Thought of ice melting and eroding landscapes
Returning to the source
He concentrated hard
Focused on her flow
All around and within
Spoke out for her
I’m here; she said
I always have been
