Eros: Sexual Love
Love in 50 Words
Eros, passion and desire
Whose arrows are inescapable
Love that burns, akin to fire
Heady and implacable
But Passion alone cannot sustain
The relationship that from Desire springs
Without Psyche, soul-connection, one should refrain
Or risk that Lust alone only ruin brings.
Love others, and self; Eros and Psyche are Love.
While the Ancient Greeks saw Eros, Sexual desire, as vital to a loving relationship, they also cautioned that sex as the only connection in a relationship would lead to unhappiness, obsession and a lack of fulfillmemt.
Even today, Friends-With-Benefits relationships are sustained by that friendship as much as the physical aspects, whom one-night stands with strangers are scorned as something you’ll regret when the Sun rises.

Very interesting poem
Lovely poetry and indeed, quite true. Your linking of eros and the psyche were very importantly added in. Well done.
This was so deep and true. Loved it!
Eros by itself is indeed a flighty & dangerous thing.

Love this series that you have put together! Great poem.
