Epitomes of Existential Crisis (Past the Recommended Rate)
Because I couldn’t take just one
Hyperventilating
Because my lungs function on preset parameters
Tachycardic in two weeks time
Lost all sensation in my fingers except one
but more concerned about memory deficits
which I’m not gonna divulge to my therapist
bleeding into an assessment for another assessment
past any diagnosis
past any treatment plan and prescription meds
Society failed me
long before I failed myself
Got a whole trunk full of nothing
crammed on my backseat
that’s a metaphor/analogy for my mood swings
which are entirely normal
when you’ve endured instead of dying
and there’s not a single thing wrong
except the place where I live now
is infested with digital addicts
day-old percolated coffee
and a side order of fresh maggots
The kind they use in wound treatment
And I’d feel much much better off
not to ingest anything for awhile
Let my body reset
Descend from altitude fight or flight
'Til I just find the night light
using my trusted right sight
No longer invested
in medical interference
the sun shimmers through my dreams

If You Love Me, You'll Do It
I met Jason when I was five years old. I could say that I loved him from the moment I saw him. He was so handsome to me and I felt in awe by his presence. When they introduced him as the new kid in school, I wanted to be his friend right away. I remember it like it was yesterday. I remember his smile and how he didn't seem shy. He appeared confident and ready to learn. I waved at him and said "hello," before anyone else could even say a word. He sat next to me, and I asked him if he wanted to be friends. He looked so happy as he said, "Yes!"

I hate healthcare in the UK too. It is better to learn and heal ourselves wherever we can, without putting ourselves under greater mental stress. Congratulations on a TS, Dani! (Late, but honest)
