Eclipsed

Into the Void once filled with the Sun

You were the Sun

I, the Moon

Together we were in sync

Once you grew cold,

I went aflame —

When we were apart

the Earth stopped spinning

on its axis, and Time slowed

just enough to make it hurt

Stars around me went dark,

envious of warmth —

God sent Life to help

search for relief,

but instead created a Void

I’m left alone with a memory

of what was once —

and a penchant to survive

I’ll go blind looking

in every light that shines

as you did —

For you were the Sun

and I, the Moon
