i awaken entangled
in my sheets drenched with fear
in a half light behind a shaky night
i know my demons were near

so many nights so many hells
and all of them inside my head
i approach with timorous trepidation
the waiting trap, that is my bed
every. single. fucking. night!
no amount of drugs or alcohol
can make these terrors abate
i’ve even tried staying up all night
but they lay in the shadows and wait
every. single. fucking. night!
my abundant dream selves laugh at me
they all know i’m here until i wake
so many fears and so many tears
fragile cracks widen but never break
every. single. fucking. night!
