Dwarven home.

Poem

By Jordan ZunigaPublished 4 years ago 2 min read

The Innkeeper came in from the backroom to the sound of drunken laughter as she held multiple jugs of ale. “Oi! Lassy! Bring me another one of those will, ye?” A male dwarf asked. “Alright, Mr. Ironfist, alright! Let me finish bringin these two to the other customers, will ye?”the Innkeeper requested. “Alright, boys! The next rounds on me! Or else my name ain’t Garlin Steelweather!” Garlin announced. The dwarves of the inn began cheering. “We need some music!” Let’s get a tune in here, shall we?” Garlin noted. The dwarves began drumming the table as Garlin began singing. “I’m offended,” an Elf on the inn replied. The dwarves started scoffing. “Oh aye! You fair eyed pansies are always offended about something! Do us a favor and go be offended somewhere else!” Garlin noted. The dwarves started laughing as they continued drumming.

Mine the rock, pick the stone,

Take the meat right off the bone,

Forget all manners, and dig right in,

Beer and meat no more a sin,

Work the fire, stir the forge,

Scuff the mouth, then engorge,

Tell my lass the finest dwarvish tale,

Dance a jig while I drink some ale,

All the dwarves joined in, as the song continued.

Under the mountain we surely dwell,

Songs to sing and stories to tell,

Sit right down, our patience thin,

Beer and meat no more a sin,

Mine the rock, pick the stone,

Take the meat right off the bone,

Forget all manners and dig right in,

Beer and meat no more a sin,

Mold the silver, work the gold,

Sing the songs our ancestors told,

Merry hearts to surely sing,

“Long live the mountain King!”

Throw the fork, smash the spoon,

Angry lass comes real soon,

“Now hey there lads, can’t ye see?

This is an inn, that stuff ain’t free!”

Dwarvish laughs, angry call,

Start a drunken tavern brawl,

The Innkeeper sighs, and starts to say,

“This is a typical dwarven day.”

Come home after the day would pass,

Hug me lad, kiss me lass,

Like a feast at the finest inn,

Beer and meat no more a sin,

Mine the rock, pick the stone,

Take the meat right off the bone,

Forget all manners and dig right in,

Beer and meat no more a sin,

Wherever we travel, wherever we roam,

I always remember a dwarvish home,

So no matter the battles we lose or win,

Beer and meat no more a sin!

This is a day in a dwarven home!
