I spend every day just waiting
For the light to fade,
Waiting for the sun
To disappear
Into the seam
Where the sky
Greets the land
In a stunning scene,
Gifting me
With the comfort
I seek
In the blanket
Of darknesses obscurity.
Because when dusk envelops me,
I feel at home
In my skin.
The moon gives me permission
To slow down
And listen
To all of the thoughts
That get lost
In the haste
Of these mindless
And fast-paced days.
I crave the stillness
That comes
With the setting
Of the sun.
I feel the safest
Under the blanket
Of night’s gray,
When the truly scary things
About living
Have been lulled into sleep,
And I’m finally free
To just be.
