The moon whispers your name
On those starless nights
It feels like your face
Is fading away
From my days,
But then again
I hear your name breathed
Into everything
In between
Bleak and beautiful.
It reverberates
In my hollow chest
Like you are still determined
To furnish the hole
With your hope.
It dances within
The echoes of the wind
And pirouettes its way
Into every landscape
I have seen
Since your passing.
It claps in the thunder
Like your reminder
That frightening things
Don’t have to be my undoing.
It cascades in the rain,
Anointing away
The scars and the pain
That linger in your wake.
I hear it
In a canary’s song,
In the way
That time marches on.
I hear it in the harmony,
In the chaos,
And in the normalcy.
You are gone…
And yet,
You remain,
Because your name is ingrained
In everything
That sinks me to my knees,
And in everything
That brings me peace.
