Dream

A poem I wrote a couple years ago to describe a strange dream I had!

Dream

I saw the way-ward, blond-haired wife

She crept across the maze

Of busy, ancient, crowded streets

But could not dodge his gaze

He followed her most bold pursuit

Of refuge in a tower

Instead of grace or mercy, though,

He wielded evil power

The dress was blue across the floor

Triangular and fit

The blade came down from high above

The neck from torso split

There was no blood, no, none to see

No cry of pain or fear

But only a submissive sound

Of silence to the ear

But in comes one of great renown

A wizard, tall and grey

He spoke and chanted words of life

To keep her from decay

The newly living woman now

Was not quite as before

Her head was sewn onto a doll

That never lived before

And yet the face was doll-like, too

Not flesh of human kind

The eyes were dark and beady, bright

Uneasy to the mind

I looked upon this strangest sight

Not knowing what it meant

Except that by some magic words

The wife could now repent

But was she in the wrong, thought I

I never really knew

The man was one to judge outright

And selfish actions, do
