The Poems

A poem to explain why I'm usually shy of sharing my poetry ;)

The Poems

Exclaiming once again today

“I haven’t seen your poems!”

Inspires me to write for you

A piece to tell you why.

You cite that you have shared your own

And yes, I am aware

But the poems I write are not exactly

Perfect for a share.

I write when I have a muddy mind

An attempt to clear the grime

I write when I am sick at heart

Inclined to leave it behind

I write when my brain is just too full

Effort to erase

I also write when I have dreams

And hopes to be expressed

I write to put a fragile moment

Into a treasure chest

I write to mend

To heal

To tend

To cares deep in my soul.

And so you see

The words I write

Aren’t always meant for show.

I’d like to comment furthermore

On one more thing you said.

You asked how long I’ve known you

As if that was the key

But frankly, friend,

That’s just not quite

The way it works with me.
