Don’t Call Me Muse

He told me to shave my chin. Shave my legs and BEND OVER for him. He worships my body while another Queen takes from his account, and that’s when he begged for a happy wife. One that does not make a sound. Do you see now, why the world is a storm with blank faces and a frown? You’re the reason why we are like this.

🖤

Yes we will love, but we will never give back as much as you want us to.

_

You want our womb, so that we can raise your child.

~

The world was built by you and you’ve made it into a shrine ©️

🖤

A man like you will look at a screen and scroll to the newest meat.

Then claim monogamy

~

Worshipping the body of another queen ©️

🖤

Another man won’t let me leave

Threats is all you feed.

~

Forgetting you were less of a man.

🖤

Despised by your own mind ©️

You asked me which girl you should choose.

~

Not thinking of what you will lose, feeding on my envy.

🖤

Money made you a throne king, but you will never be merry ©️

Ask that queen what you’ve done to deserve me

~

A wife that does not love you anymore

🖤

You will think you scored.

But all you scored was a moving goal post.

~

You will not get a woman that you can control.

🖤

Only someone with hurt feelings, with a love that will never grow. ©️

While you sat there and stuffed your face.

~

I chewed my lips with anxiety.

🖤

Rocking back and forth with STDS in mind.

_

On your face a wide smile

~

And you have the audacity to ask me why. ©️

🖤

Take that screen out of my face. You have left me to die.

Wallow in your lust and grime.

~

That's why

🖤

I will never respect a man like you.

Unable to rise above what your parents do

~

Mind in a another mans sheet ©️

Not to do what you’ve done

~

But to show you a broken heart is not fun!

"You want our womb, so that we can raise your child." "But all you scored was a moving goal post." Such a profound piece, Caitlin, and the above lines hit me fast and hard. I once knew such a man- he fathered my youngest two children. I left that mess years ago. He, whose name is not worth mentioning, destroyed my confidence, abused me, and, worse, got left behind, so I could raise my children in peace. Congratulations on leading the leadership board this week❣

Well done, my lady - you sure kick me goals lately. I feel bad because I missed this first time around; I have been a bit inconsistent lately; a lot is going on personally. That reminds me I need to friend you on Facebook, but I would like to let you know I am not a good communicator there. Back to your poem, Brilliant. As I said in my insight, Heartfelt and totally relatable. I have had my share of cheating, but the way you expressed it in your poem was something else. You always make me feel a part of what you write. Thank you. 😉😉

  • Wooohooooo congratulations on your Leaderboard placement! 🎉💖🎊🎉💖🎊

So powerful, my goodness. My heart aches just reading this.

Damn I'm sorry I missed this when it was first published. Men like him are not real men and this was as eloquent as it was damning. Well wrought, Caitlin. You are an unstoppable force for truth and good in your poetry, fiction and the way you raise others. Well done on first place on leaderboard!

"Men" who do these things never really grew up, they just live perpetually as infantile gratification that debases themselves. No authority whatsoever and pathetic as they come. Writing about them in a poem...just the right spell... Shhh...

Again, letting out all your pain in your words is one way to feel better for you, Keep it up you are one great poet.

Every verse carries its own heartbeat, and the imagery of worship and destruction intertwining is stunning. You’ve managed to capture heartbreak, defiance, and survival all in one breath.

  • My heart breaks so much for you. The amount of pain you went through 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭 I wish I could give you a hug right now. I wish I could help make your situation better. But unfortunately, I cannot and I'm so sorry 😭😭😭😭😭😭

This is heartbreaking and deeply touches me. After reading and reflecting on the image, I am in tears. This is a harsh reality. ❤️🙏

This is such a powerful and emotional piece, so honest, and full of pain that’s been deeply felt. Your words carry so much strength and truth. I really hope you’re okay. Sending love.

Wow Caitlin. This is both amazing and tragic. It's true that so many good women end up with a man like this. I think social media has ruined everyone. No one knows what they truly want or how to act and then when they get something good, they're too traumatized to trust it. Both men and women, I think. Magnificent piece. 💜💜 But my heart hurts because of it.

“ Take that screen out of my face. You have left me to die.” Ooh, I felt this in the marrow of my bones. The speaker in this poem deserves so much more goodness and appreciation than she receives. I want to put my foot up that dude’s ass.

Powerful writing Caitlin and I can't begin to imagine how this felt but hoping the feelings are mended or mending, the situation better or best.

So sorry for whatever you're going through that inspired this work. It is so sad that this is true for so many. Keep venting. We're reading, and we're here for you. 💜

My mother is a powerful figure in our lives. Business owner and she never put up with mens crap. We were brought up to appreciate anyone as a person and an individual. It amazes me that we are still dealing with this type of dilemma. Caitlin, Look out for you, first.

This is many a woman’s plight powerfully penned in this stunning poem, Caitlin! I concur with all the comments beneath mine. I hope you are all right.

  • This is powerfully deep, dark, and painfully sad and heavy- sorry for the overuse of descriptors but I have got everything in that I felt from reading this poem. It feels so very personal and I hope that this is not something that you are going through. Excellent work as always.

I'm so sorry, There seems to be no justice on any level in this world. What a powerfully worded piece. It was to the point, but conjured up all the feelings. 👏👏👏🫂You deserve so much love for what you give out.

  • There are so many of us that have stood in this pain. Searching to understand how and why, only to have the blame put in our laps. As women, we need to be able to find and give grace and power to one another in order to stand strong. What a great poem, Caitlin
