Don’t Be Sorry Be You

On wards and upwards

Don’t Be Sorry Be You

Do not shrink down to fit their hands,

do not apologise for breath,

you were not made to dim your light,

to keep the world from feeling small.

Stand steady in your chosen truth,

and let your realness fill the room,

for you were never meant to bend,

to match the fears of those around.

Do not regret the sound you make,

the steps you take, the dreams you chase,

for every part of who you are,

deserves to stand without restraint.

Let courage sit upon your skin,

let honesty remain your core,

and walk through life with lifted head,

unmoved by those who speak of doubt.

You owe no sorry for your soul,

for simply being what you are,

and any heart that asks you to,

was never meant to walk with you.

Hold firm to what you truly feel,

and let your spirit shape its path,

for every truth inside your chest,

was placed there to be lived, not hid.

So move with grace and open eyes,

and trust the strength you carry now,

for you are fullest when you rise,

and when you choose to just be you

Way to go and one must accept who we are as well as the others that we know too. An acceptance poem of being human.

love this; my father always said to stand for what you believe in and if someone tries to knock you down, stand straighter and stronger. Your poem reminded me of my dad. Thank you for saying his words so eloquently.
