Dog Wedge

Mum and the kids are all doing really well

By BrenPublished 3 years ago 1 min read

my dog just had puppies

Friday night just gone

and sad in its way

being stillborn took one…

so young and so fragile

the colostrum was needed

couldn’t get one to grip

had a bit of trouble feeding

it was the little blue boy

the runt of the litter

heart of a lion

weak, but no quitter

prone to being jostled

due to his size

smaller than the others

but no lesser the prize

he took to the nipple

like a bull at a gate

and so did the others

no waste no wait

it was then he got pushed

and moved from his spot

his warmth and his meal

he lost the lot

so with a careful arranging

of a pup and a heat mat

got him on feeding again

got him going flat chat

wedged him in tight

between mum and his sibling

he's very content now

mewling, suckling and dribbling

nature poetry

Anyone want a ten month old Rottweiler? 😁👍

Pupdate: Lola is an arsehole - she loves rehoming pots plants, chasing and then cornering the cats but she fits right into this dysfunctional circus we have going here!

Last Update: We kept the little girl - and she is tenacious like her mum but so switched on (like her dad). She will be a very good guard dog eventually. I wish i could post a photo cause she is so cute!

Day 28 All four are going like thrashing machines! They get their vaccination, microchip and vet check next week. The big girl has a mutant dew claw its almost like a dog thumb (she's the fastest one of the lot). Had to move them to the sectioned off section of the laundry as they kept climbing out of the whelping box pretty much as the pleased.

Update: Day 10 Little Blue is being supplemented with a bottle and is getting stronger everyday. His siblings are huge and thier eyes will open in tbe next couple of days. Polly is being the best mum and doing really well herself

So sweet! It’s good that you helped the troubled puppy. Some need help sometimes and it doesn’t cost much, but it’s changing lives. How many is there? Do they have the names already? Is it not a Patterdale Terrier breed? I have stories about dogs too, I wish to have one, but I don’t think I can.
