Do Mingers Go to Heaven?

Do all of us only need to say sorry to get let in ?

Do Mingers Go to Heaven?

Do mingers go to heaven,

or do they rot in hell?

Does beauty write the ticket,

does the pretty soul fare well?

Is there a scale at heaven’s gates,

a mirror set in gold?

Does Saint Peter turn away

the wrinkled and the old?

Do angels sneer at crooked teeth,

at faces worn and rough?

Or do they see what’s underneath—

is kindness quite enough?

If beauty is the only pass,

then heaven must be bare,

for all the hearts that truly shine

aren’t always fairest there.

So if the gates stay locked for me,

then let the angels gloat—

I’d rather walk through fire itself

than live by shallow vote.

Heaven accepts all. This is a poem that would make a great discussion for a creative poetry class. Good job.
