Divine Regret πŸŒΉπŸ–€

Soul's descent. A Villanelle.

By Novel AllenPublished about a month ago β€’ 1 min read

Broken and wretched, my soul descends from the celestial rose,

Trailing golden light - mocking, forever falling - a shadowed ruin.

I saw the light of grace, but alas, I could not stay.

πŸŒΉπŸ–€

The stars sang sad odes to songs I wished to unlearn.

Their fire burning, scorching through the veil of day.

Broken and wretched, my soul descends from the celestial rose.

πŸŒΉπŸ–€

Beatrice turned her lovely gaze away, my spirit crushed -

Light forsook me deep down where the shadows yearn.

I saw the light of grace, but alas, I could not stay.

πŸŒΉπŸ–€

The rose unfolded, a divine wound in a comedic display.

Its petals spun, too fierce to spurn. My branches wilted.

Broken and wretched, my soul descends from the celestial rose.

πŸŒΉπŸ–€

The Empyrean heaven began to sway, a celestial fiery will.

A wheel of ache now burns to flame I could not turn.

I saw the light of grace, but alas, I could not stay.

πŸŒΉπŸ–€

Now silence haunts the things for which I prayed,

And burning ash replaces what I yearned to earn.

Broken and wretched, my soul descends from the celestial rose.

I saw the light of grace, but alas, I could not stay.

This sounds like a sad prayer to love lost. An ode to goodbye. Lovely,

Your imagery blends Dantean grandeur with raw emotion, every line glows and burns.
