disparate refuge
a story from a cafe in amsterdam
bitter winds blew me
through heavy doors,
a small cafe
became refuge
a shelter from ice
chilling my flesh
lashing my face
accosting my soul
.
mint tea brewed
heavy pots
to small cups
becoming hot salvation,
thawing
reviving
tulip red to lips
with delicate burning sips
.
bitter winds blew him
through heavy doors
a man without dwelling
begging refuge
shelter from ice
chilling his flesh
lashing his face
accosting his soul
.
their poisoned minds
in hot temper,
fearful
heavy hearts
infecting
tulip red to eyes,
demon flared nostrils
no longer disguised
.
brewed salvation denied
disconsolate plea spurned
he bows painfully
shamefully
desperately
seeking
human warmth.
Shunned.
