Disappearing into the Crowd (and Kind of Okay with It)
For the "Instructions for Disappearing" Challenge

On the bus to Defqon.1,
everyoneβs been drinking
since 10 a.m.
You catch a glimpse of the lake
outside the bus window.
Okay, letβs go!

Hereβs where the fun begins.
ππ₯πππ₯ππ
Now, make a vague plan.
Youβll meet at an approximate
time and place.
Feeling certain youβll see each other again,
head off to the drink token stand.
Youβll need a drink for each hand.
ππ₯πππ₯ππ
Donβt forget the plan.
ππ₯πππ₯ππ
Find your favourite stage,
RED, GOLD, or MAGENTA.
Dance the afternoon away.
Time will fly by
in a blur of toilet trips,
bar stops,
and dancing.
ππ₯πππ₯ππ
Donβt forget the plan.
ππ₯πππ₯ππ
Now, I think itβs time
to meet up with your friends.
What time did we decide on again?
ππ₯πππ₯ππ
Did you forget the plan?
ππ₯πππ₯ππ
Wander to where
you think the meeting point was.
There definitely werenβt
this many people here this morning.
Lost in the crowd,
you look around
and donβt see any familiar faces.
Fire twirlers pass you by.
Did you just see a circus clown?
Check your phone:
Emergency Calls Only
Damn!
Typical festival reception!
ππ₯πππ₯ππ
I think you forgot the plan!
ππ₯πππ₯ππ
Oh well,
just give up.
There are only a few
hours left of the day.
Go back to your favourite stage,
throw your hands in the air,
and dance, dance, dance.

I went to every Defqon.1 festival held in Australia (2009β2018). This poem is my tribute to the art of getting lost in the crowd and still having the best day ever!
