Different Hearts

A poem and a Buddy Holly song

By Rasma RaistersPublished 7 months ago 1 min read

There are special loves,

that come and go.

Those we won’t miss

and those we don’t want to let go.

 Loves that hurt us,

others bring great joy.

Finding a place,

in our golden memories.

 *

Dispelling the loneliness,

taking away the falling tears.

Bringing joy and contentment -

loving that goes on and on till the end of time.

 Hearts that we meet,

cold hearts with no warmth,

warm hearts that smile -

promising love forevermore.

 *

Different kinds of hearts,

in this world of ours.

Those that take our hearts

and treasure them.

Hearts can break and hearts can mend,

always new messages they send.

The best hearts are honest and true,

never making us blue.

 Love is always special,

no matter what the season.

The special thoughts that we always remember,

no matter for what reason.

Love songs always have much to say,

melodies to which,

lovers can dance and sway,

kindling passion through the night.

 *

There are hearts that like diamonds sparkle,

hearts that are as black as coal,

blue hearts and lonely hearts

and those we know offer love right from the start.

Hearts as red as cherry tarts,

always offering a warm hand to hold.

Hugs and kisses,

on cold winter nights.

 Golden hearts,

with the promise of new love,

when the wintry snows melt away

and spring is once again here to stay.

 As springs melt into summers,

hearts with love to give,

blossom like meadows,

full of red poppies warmed by the sun.

 *

Hearts always beat faster,

when love is true.

Never having to fear,

knowing that love is always near.

 Different kinds of hearts,

they sparkle and shine.

Different kinds of hearts -

I’m glad yours is mine.
