Dependable Luck
Was it really the luck all along?
I grasp the pendant around my neck
fingers lace around it with intentional care
the stone,
each ridge unique,
one of craftmanship, of careful design
a small diamond glints in the sunlight
While I'm captivated by its physical allure
It is more than its design
Each time the necklace fastens around my neck
I feel a spark of energy
It pulsates and glows from the pendant
transforming into luck
One glimpse of luck
A shiny coin found
A missing sock recovered
An offer accepted
It all happened because of the pendant
I wear the pendant everywhere
fearing the consequences if I don't
My personality changes each time the clasp fastens
Unsure, unknowing
now powerful and confident
I wear the pendant everyday as it becomes a part of me
a beautiful obsession
I graze my fingers over it for comfort and reassurance
a reminder of the good luck that awaits me
One day my fingers graze
not a lucky pendant
but the anxiety inducing feeling of a bare neck
I feel the back of my neck, my fears suspected
reality sets in,
pendant nowhere to be found, my dependable luck gone
Among frantic searches I fear how my day will go
No pendant worn around my neck
pulsating and glowing, transforming into luck
will bad luck be my familiarity now?
An unsuccessful search, I reluctantly forget
the day goes on and I know, so must I
And then in the midst of a depressing ordinary day,
I find a dollar bill
lying on the pavement
somehow missed by others
I pick it up and reach to touch my pendant
The misfortune of it lost momentarily forgotten
I touch my bare neck met with a split second of surprise
No pendant, no luck,
And yet
A dollar bill found in the most unexpected of times
I feel my bare neck repeatedly, realization setting in
Was it really the pendant? The luck all along?

It is a very beautiful story. I would like to contact you, waiting for your response.
Yes. Is it the pendant or lucky rabbit foot or lucky penny or some other? Or... Very good. Thank you!๐๐
