I Saw the Moon Melt Last Night

A nighttime psychedelic sight

Last night caught between a dream and reality

Separated by a window and a veil that separates worlds

I saw a vision of the moon

Before outside the window,

in the nighttime sky

a routine of nearly every night

shone the moon

ordinary, mundane

yet with a captivating allure

Now outside my window

against the star lit sky

lustrous metallic silver drops dripped from the moon

Oozing and reshaping,

Slow like how lava in a lamp breaks apart and reforms

Slow as if time itself was stopping if only for the moon

Large ones that oozed at a psychedelic pace,

Small ones that rolled off the moon

like tiny metallic shiny beads

As the moon melted, drops of it fell from the star filled sky

to the earth below

hitting branches, and leaves like rain drops

gathering on grass like morning dew

I heard the thud of large drops hit the roof

the ping of small ones beat against the window

Mesmerized, I watched as the moon's lustrous metallic silver drops oozed down from the nighttime sky and to the earth below

The next thing I saw when I looked back

was the moon

ordinary and mundane

So ordinary and mundane

Not like the melting moon I saw before

You paint such a visceral picture of this psychedelic moon melting and deteriorating! So fascinatingly creepy and awe-inspiring to read.

  • So glad the moon returned to its regular phase/routine.😅
