Death Walks Alone

Take his Hand

No one understands

What his job is

He has no friends

Death

Walks

Alone

He walks a solitary path

Performing his job with mercy

There is no wrath

Death

Walks

Alone

Hated for a job well done

Completely misunderstanding his intentions

He does not do it for fun

Death

Walks

Alone

Taking from all walks of life

He has no prejudice

He does not mean to cause strife

Death

Walks

Alone

Taking the young and the old

With tender care

Not moving too bold

Death

Walks

Alone

There is no need to fear

When it’s your time

For he will be near

Death

Walks

Alone

Come near, sit a spell, and listen to tales of old as I sit and rock by my fire. I'll serve you some cocoa and cookies as I tell you of the time long gone by when your Greats-greats once lived.

That's so sad. I would love to walk with him, lol! Loved your poem!

If he walks alone then he can walk on by. I'll let him know when it's time to return, or not. Great story!

I like this, I've always seen Death as a bit of a tragic character. Captures that nicely and I like the chorus section.

  • I can relate! I walk alone too! Great poem!
