Silent fog

Candle flames move softly,

and lights inside houses try hard to shine through the windows.

The fog is very thick.

Streetlights look weak,

like they are wrapped inside cloth.

The fog is gray and light,

but it feels heavy.

It covers the light

and makes our mood dark.

A train whistle sounds far away.

The train moves through the valley

near the sea,

going south.

Its window lights appear and disappear

behind trees and buildings,

going up and down the hills

like moving pictures.

In the morning,

the sun cannot break the fog.

The fog is like a heavy curtain.

It moves slowly,

around corners,

up poles,

and covers everything.

The birds stay quiet.

There is no singing today.

Before night became completely dark,

the fog slowly disappeared

into the sky full of stars.
