Dear Unborn Baby

You Are Loved

By Katie ParksPublished 5 years ago 3 min read

There are so many thinks I want to say

I want to tell you how much you are wanted

I want to tell you how many nights I have stayed up praying for you

I have prayed that you will be healthy

I have prayed that you will be happy

I have prayed for you to exist.

I want to tell you about your dad

About how he is the kindest man I have ever met

About how he can be such a stern, stubborn, hardheaded man

About how he can also be the most loving man in the world to the people he loves

About how he does everything he does for you

About how he has always wanted the best for you, even before you were real

About how he knows exactly where he wants to put your swing set in our backyard

About how much he already loves you

I want to tell you about your room

It will be filled with so many stuffed animals

There will be a bookshelf full of Dr. Seuss books

There will be cows everywhere because of your mom’s obsession with them

There will be so many pictures of you, dear one, all over every wall in the house

There will be drawers and closets full of more blankets and sheets and clothes and toys than you will ever need

I want to tell you about your amazing grandparents

They will spoil you completely rotten no matter what daddy and I say

They will be some of the strongest, best, most influential people in your life

They will love you almost as much as mommy and daddy do

I want to make sure you know that there will be some people who are your ‘family’ by blood, that will not be in your life

But you should know that this is only because we want to give you nothing but the best in life

And sometimes, the people that are your ‘family’ will only take that away

And you will be raised to know that family is really about the people you choose to love

Not just the people that you share DNA with

I know it might sound confusing, but I can promise you that you are not missing out on anything -- especially love

I want to tell you about how much I love you

The love I already have for you is so extreme and consuming, small one

I could never love anything or anyone else the way that I love you

I have known your name since I was sixteen years old

I have known since high school that I was supposed to be a mom; your mom

There is nothing I have ever wanted more than you

The last thing that I want you to know is that I will never stop until you are mine.

I know that you cannot understand this right now,

But mommy has a condition that makes it harder for her to have a baby.

Your daddy knows all about it,

And he has been more than open and understanding.

He has promised me that he will do whatever it takes to make sure that you become ours.

And now I will make a promise to you,

I promise that from the moment you become real, I will do everything in my power to take care of you.

I love you more than life itself.

So from the moment I know you exist,

I will protect you until my last breath.

My dear unborn baby,

I cannot give you a perfect life

There will be so many challenges for both of us throughout your life,

But you will always be safe, warm, and loved.

I really cannot wait to meet you

And I hope you let us meet you soon.

With all of our love,

Your mommy and daddy
