Dear Narcissist

Part VII

Image Created on Midjourney

Now I finally understand

I was searching for friendship

While you were seeking victims

I was aiming for improvement

As you were trying to convince me

You had no need to change

I was giving you your hundredth chance

When you told me I didn’t

Deserve a second one

Now I finally understand

Narcissists keep their

Manipulations close but

Their prey closer

You hated me because

You could never

Manipulate me for long

And I pitied you

Because a person who

Can’t admit to having faults

Could never forgive others

For theirs

  • I made a new friend online and this guy is a narcissist and loves grinding my gears. When I tell him that he's been saying stuff that he knows will trigger me, he says "No, I don't do anything. It's you who gets triggered by whatever I say". That gaslighting! My God! Anyway, loved your poem!

I recently wrote that creativity is often a response to pain. Reading this, that feels truer than ever.

How is this so encompassing these days.. compassion for self and others (I think) is key. An interesting piece!!

Whoa!!! Great insight into the mind of a narcissist!

  • Continues to be completely relatable, both for the narcissists we've endured & the one we find within ourselves.
