I've been told there's a man in the moon
I've been told there's a man on the moon
I've been told
either way there's a man
and people look up to this man
this man that might be you
might be living on you
might be part of,
might be in.
Might not even exist,
but I wanna hear it from you
if you can
are you rock or are you man
No one ever says woman.
For some reason
of that, we're sure.
No one even just says "person”
And I wonder why.
Is it men once again,
trying to put themselves in a place so high?
Or is it fact?
Is it learned?
It is taught,
but I don't know
It's not fought for
to be known as truth.
It's just said as fact.
In confidence,
knowing that no one will deny it,
no one will claim it's a lie,
but I'm not sure
who actually believes
When they say,
the man in the moon,
do they trust that there is that person in you?
Are they seeing your humanity instead?
Are they seeing some type of life,
but then if man,
could it now be dead?
What is it that makes people associate you with a singular man?
Do men wish to be lonely?
Do you wish to be lonely?
because it must be lonely
for you are alone.
And so is this so called man.
But I don't know, as I've said.
I have heard and I have read,
but I've heard lots of things.
I've read lots of things.
I've written lots of fake things,
fiction,
books, short stories,
and if those are lies,
then what more could lie
ahead of me in the hunt
for this knowledge
Are you nothing but a big ball of rock?
If so, you can't reply,
but if there is a man,
would you anyway?
