Dear Moon

A letter to a friend

By Frances HelenaPublished 3 months ago 2 min read

Moon!

I missed you! Last time we spoke you busy keeping all the planets, stars and galaxy in order you said, I hope they listen to you. I wonder what it’s like where you are, can you see all the fires, cyclones, storms, ice and people who are causing chaos for no reason?

I’d love to go to the moon, but I’d wonder how I’d go with my oxygen tank. I’m having trouble breathing at the moment with this viral infection, don’t worry it’s just a middle ear infection – never had this before though, so it’s new to me.

We could swap places when I come to visit next time, you can finally come to Earth and see what it’s like for yourself. Then I can go to yours and command the whole galaxy, planets, stars, or maybe I can throw a party, and we can have a disco – after all there should be enough sparkle up there! Or it can be like the Disney movie Fantasia, remember that? Surely you do. Such a great film, I miss those days!

I must say though, people sound like planets, they’ve got big personalities and look different from each other. Sometimes I’m like really, what’s wrong with some people, and other days I’m like I don’t want to be around them. I wonder if you feel the same about the planets.

Before I forget! You know what happened today, Moon, I tried to save a butterfly, it wasn’t moving well, and I wasn’t sure why, its wings looked in tacked, then looked at its wings so I thought. I made some calls and none of the people I spoke to were helpful and finally called the Butterfly Sanctury.

The lady on the phone said to feed it water with sugar, had my empty chai latte cup, I washed it and teared it down into a bowl. The butterfly sort of recognised sugar water, it did have some and then tried to move but no luck. Called back again to the sanctuary and told it I noticed something eating it at the bottom of the body, they said it would be sad but to put it down, as nothing can be done.

Well, I thought about it and then I was going to do as the lady suggested, then I turned around and it disappeared, so I don’t know what happened to it. Hopefully it flew away and survived, oh Moon, there’s only so much one can do to save some beautiful, I’m sure you understand.

Bye for now Moon, don't work too hard!

Love your friend,

Frances
