•••Dancing In The Dark•••

In Our Own Way

By Erica (Joyce) ThompsonPublished 6 years ago 2 min read
•••but did you learn•••

My Lust For Love Lies On The Surface Of The Moon.

Somewhere, Between Too Much And Not Enough.

Lined With Ignorance And Finished With Bliss...

•I Am Pushed Against The Never Ending Tides.

Will The Good Ever Outweigh The Bad?

The Farther Down This Path, We’ve Taken, I Find It Hard To Stray.

Dancing Aimless, In The Dark, With Nothing But Broken Melodies. We Sway.

With Our Dreams Over Flowing, They’re Bursting At The Seams.

Deluding Reality With Expectations, Nothing Is Ever What It Seems.

As If Dancing In The Dark, Could Ever Take Us To Our Dreams.

Laughing Down This Twisted Path,

When I Forgot Simply To Breath.

Falling In Your Arms, I’m Not Alone, Just You And Me.

We’re Dancing In The Dark, When Both Of Us Can’t Even See.

•You’re Sleeping..

Can You Hear Me?!

You’re Wide Awake But You’re Asleep!!!

IT WAS HIM, WHO BLEW THE CANDLES.

SO THAT YOU COULDN’T SEE.

HE SAID THE FLOOR HAD TRIP WIRES,

THAT HAD YET TO BE SEEN.

“PUT YOUR HAND IN MINE, ILL MAKE YOU FEEL LIKE A QUEEN”

AS IF, THERE WAS NOTHING MORE,

BUT TO STAY WITHIN HIS KEEP.

My Questions, A Blur.

His Answers, Vague.

The Days Were Dazed,

With Reality Slipping.

Time Was Our Only Fate.

My Suspicions Rising,

His Patience Is Growing Thin.

Suddenly The Mood Changes, This Was Never Meant To Be.

He’s Angry But I’m Crying.

•I Am Too ..Late.

“You Never Loved Me If...”

Recollecting Pieces Of Our Broken Memories.

From Twisted Stories He Had Woven, Becoming What He Wanted From Me.

•I Couldn’t Help But Question,

How Could He Do This To Me?!

Why Do I Still Love Him, Even After He Hurt Me?

As If Blaming Empty Hearts, Would Make Up Any Ease.

I Knew The Answers, The Whole Time But It Didn’t Bother Me.

I WATCHED HIM TURN THE CANDLES.

THE TRIP WIRES WERE OUR OWN FEET.

I WAS THE ONE WHO PUT MY HAND OUT,

EXPECTING HIS TO BE JUST AS CLEAN.

THE ONLY THING THAT I DIDNT KNOW..

Was My Desire To Finally See.

The One Thing, In This World,

I’ve Never Actually Seen.

Yet, At Some Point, I Did Picture..

A Full Life, Him And Me.

Intoxicated By These Words,

Like They Were Spells To Be Cast.

As If Saying It Enough Times,

Could Ever Make “Love” Last.

We’ve Stopped Dancing.

We’re Apart.

All Alone And In The Dark.

I Forgot Who I Am...

But The Best Thing About Forgetting Yourself Is Finding Yourself Again.

You can find life in the smallest moments… thank you for being the person I never had… I found life in love and have it and you have me…. All of me
