Crows' Feet and Crawl Spaces

Villanelle about aging obsession

Another footprint, marking of the crow

Eye squints, ogles, my mirrored faces

Aging obsession; my refusal to let go

~

My travel comrades, eye balms in tow

Youth restored with care; finger traces

Another footprint, marking of the crow

~

Truth meets angst, so I tie it in a bow

Lies told to self, myself displaces

Aging obsession; my refusal to let go

~

Mother often repeats, "I told you so"

Twixt these maturing lines, I seek crawl spaces

Another footprint, marking of the crow

~

Cosmetic procedures equal a heap of dough

Is it worth the price for what it replaces

Aging obsession; my refusal to let go

~

Toss the products, give notions a heave-ho

Internal conflict: lost time machine chases

Another footprint, marking of the crow

Aging obsession; my refusal to let go

You should just accept it for you are a beautiful person on the inside and you should look beyond the physical attributes of the body. Cosmetic procedures tend to be done periodically over time.

  • "Cosmetic procedures equal a heap of dough Is it worth the price for what it replaces" I don't think it is worth. Loved your poem!
