Crisp is my favorite word
I learned in school
It satisfies because the sound moves from the back of your mouth to the front
Try it
c r i s p.
It pops on your lips like the shoe abandons the dry leaf on the sidewalk
This secret of crisp
I wondered
Did Shakespeare know?
Jane Eyre?
Did they use crisp to move us into the ever present leaving of Autumn?
To romance us unto the continual abandonment of sunshine?
Here we let fall hold us up
Here we let fall let us down
Continual time leaving
Warmth fleeting
Love burrows in
And the average of us stumbles out onto the sidewalk
Crunching leaves
Thinking
Mmm...
Crisp.

I love how you’ve taken one simple word and turned it into a whole sensory experience.
