Contradiction

I cannot touch your soul anymore.

The wind has chapped your lips,

traveled through the creases in your skin

and buried itself within you.

Your love is overbearing.

Complex. Heavy.

Do you recognize the moment?

That the light faded

And the darkness moved in?

Can you hear the footfalls?

Wandering eyes –

Soul searching for yourself

Your hands are ice now.

Soft fingertips merged to

Rough shaven bone.

I am wandering

Pandering

When does winter end?

Kindling is harder to find in the dark.

I see you've grown

used to the bonfires

built from your own rubble;

when night falls

and you start feeling regret,

fear,

when the silence challenges you

game after game

rock, paper, scissors,

shoot.

all of the shadows have a place to call

home.
