Contract

A Poem of Dread

By Steven CosoresPublished 8 years ago 1 min read

The irreversible effects

Of my mind's defects

Have brought me to ingest

A poisonous gas that infests

My room as I lay in bed

As it spreads

I fear the night

As anyone might

not what could be lurking in the darkness

But the emptiness

That took an unbreakable hold

A harrowing cold

Looking for light of a flame to warm me

A fine print that I didn't see

This is a contract of death

But One that still forces me to draw breath
