*With love for the works of J.R.R. Tolkien

What evils lie behind that stare?

What suspicions underneath?

Adventures unfolding will lay them bare

unravel the facts from grief

Memory and what's written

never do quite match – for

historians cannot convey with pen

how agony lingers after war

One man says to the other one

“All is well, now we are united,

for now we share a common

purpose and shall be uninhibited”

The other man is wiser, though

He holds his tongue decided

For more than any one could know,

does he: how easily men are blinded
