Coming Home

The Promise of Reunion

By Dil KumarPublished 10 months ago 2 min read

Coming Home
There’s something truly magical about returning home from a vacation. When we step off the plane, train, or car and take in the familiar sights and sounds of our hometown, there’s an indescribable feeling of excitement that washes over us. It’s a feeling of coming full circle, of completing a journey, and of being reunited with the people and places that make up the fabric of our daily lives. Whether one has been away for a few days, a few weeks, or even longer, there’s a sense of anticipation and satisfaction that builds as he or she makes his or her way back to their own front door.

Cheerful dawn is here,
It left the dusk behind far.
The chill memories are gone,
Now in my heart resides none.
The scent of school isn't easy to forget,
Yet to touch your grime, I am excited.
My dear village, I am coming soon.
May not in dawn, but sure in noon.

The whiteness of clouds design the hills,
The coldness of breeze sweeps the trail.
Dryness of the sky steals the moisture,
And crystals of ice freezes the posture.
It is winter now, the season of cold.
And for shit like me, the season of gold.
My soul warming village, I am coming soon.
May not in dawn, but sure in noon.

The kids of memories may have grown,
Their dimple matured, I need not frown.
The chickens like ball may could fly,
Far like plovers high up in the sky.
The poor old man may now is rich,
His long lasting wound may no more itch.
My caring village, I am coming soon.
May not in dawn, but sure in noon.

Why do birds, after taking off from their nest in the morning, always fly back home in the evening? Why do colonies of ants consistently find their way back to their nest after a day of hunting? Why do armies of frogs never venture far from their pond for extended periods of time, even though they can survive on land? The simple answer lies in the undeniable allure of home. What in the world is as lovely as home? What on this earth is as cozy as home? Birds return because they have their eggs to care for or young ones to nurture. Ants return because they have the responsibility of feeding their queen and protecting their home. Frogs never stray too far from the circle of their pond because they have a deep love for the offspring they are bound to have. And aren’t we humans the same? What truly fills us with excitement and sentiment is the act of returning to our dear home.

Home sweet home. This is the place to find happiness. If one doesn’t find it here, one doesn’t find it anywhere. -M.K Soni
