Home Sweet Home

The Only Place That Feels Truly Right

By Dil KumarPublished 10 months ago 3 min read

Home Sweet Home
The phrase “home sweet home” has been a part of our cultural lexicon for centuries, and for good reason. There’s something about the familiarity and comfort of returning to one’s own abode that is truly special. In times of stress or uncertainty, the thought of returning home can be a bursting source of excitement. From childhood memories to the warmth of family, there are many reasons why the idea of “home” holds such a special place in our hearts. This poem celebrates the joy and excitement of returning to that special place we call home.

There’s an ineffable feeling that pervades the heart,
As one drives up the pavement of intimately familiar path,
The closer one gets, the extension of contentment starts,
For who could resist an excitement of returning home at last?
Home sweet home, is everyone's asylum of peace,
Where stressed souls return, and their enthusiasm increase.
Home sweet home, is a faultless haven where the heart can truly rest,
For there’s no place quite like it on earth, because it’s the best.

Oh, how could I put in words the exultation that fills my heart,
As I once again was to approach to a land of my childhood start?
Back to the place where my indelible memories are tightly abound,
And treasured love and admired laughter can be freely found.
Eyes to the front-the road winds on, ears to the back-the miles pass by.
Arms in its place-stagnant, yet my wingless heart did launch into fly.
And screen in my elated mind, where I projected the heavenly sight,
Of the fields and forests of my home, sweet home, in all its light.

The door swings wide open, and my eyes get fixed to where they stand,
My cherished family, with their joy-lit on face and their outstretched hand.
All of course thinks bout the seasons and the years that did come and go,
Yet I didn’t forget my village where a farmer who uses oxens to plow.
So here I am, to a place where I was, finally back at my start,
With deep pool of love and laughter in my heart.
It’s where I’m contended, where I’m complete,
And life is once more optimistic, oh so sweet.

Home is where the heart is, and there’s no place quite like it. It’s the place where we feel most comfortable, where we can truly be ourselves, and where we can retreat to when we need a break from the world. Home is where we create our fondest memories and where we gather with loved ones to share laughter and love. It’s where we build our lives and where we find refuge from the storms of life. There’s something truly special about coming back to the place we call home.

Whether we’ve been away for a day, a week, or longer, there’s a feeling of warmth and familiarity that washes over us as we step through the door. We’re surrounded by the familiar sights, sounds, and smells that make our home unique, and we’re reminded of all the reasons why we love it so much. Home is not just a physical space, but a feeling of safety, security, and belonging. It’s where we can let our guard down and be ourselves, knowing that we’re loved and accepted just as we are. It’s where we can create our own little oasis in the dry and scorching desert, which is sometimes a representation of a busy and sometimes chaotic world. So here’s to home, sweet home, the place where our hearts reside. May it always be a haven of peace, love, and happiness, and may we always cherish the memories we create within its walls.
