Comfort or Insanity

Finding It in the Game

Give me a moment and I’ll tell you of

My favourite team in the sport I love

My comfort

*

They haven’t won in 55 years

You could fill an ocean with Leafs fans tears

But that’s comfort

*

When I sit down to watch the game

Our team’s the best, I will proclaim

And that’s comfort

*

When we give up a goal, then two then three

Something strange comes over me

Is that not comfort?

*

“Shoot the puck, you stupid f*ck”

In the swear jar, goes a buck

Releasing comfort

*

Trade the bum, for he can’t fight

No matter if he scores each night

Stupidity or comfort?

*

I love this team. I hate this team

And every emotion in between

But that’s comfort

*

Early playoff exits each year

They’ll never win, my greatest fear

Where's my comfort?

*

I swear I’ll not watch anymore

On my Leafs, I’ve closed the door

And that’s comfort

*

But come October once again

A brand new season will begin

A new comfort

*

I’ll be back, just like before

Another season, I’ll endure

Because it’s comfort

*

Try as I may, I’ll never go

Addiction or insanity? I don’t know

But it’s comfort

*

If you wonder why I’ve gone insane

Blame it on the hockey game

Believe it or not, that’s my comfort

This is such a fresh take on the challenge theme and so true! As someone who is not a huge sports fan in general even I take comfort just from hearing the football game on on Sundays- all the familiar sounds remind me of happier times growing up ❤

Always love ready your creation , I love the personality you bring to your writing style. You would be a joy to seat with during a hockey game for sure. Not a full moment. Comfort of being yourself at your hockey game. ❣️

Oh this was fun to read and very relatable! "Addiction or insanity? I don’t know" My thoughts exactly when supporting my team in cricket haha.

  • Standing by what we love no matter they win or lose or any circumstances, is definitely comfort. Loved your poem!

Well, keep hope alive, I guess. My dad was a Leafs fan, but I'm team Habs all the way. That said, a very good poem and I do get the comfort aspect of it.

  • This is great fun , I support Preston North End so know your pain. Having said that five games in we haven't conceded a goal this season, but we have only scored one , but it was world class
