Come to Cobh

A poem about Cobh

By Chloe GilholyPublished 3 years ago 1 min read

Cobh, a city by the sea

Once known as Queenstown, where history

Lingers in the air like a gentle breeze

And tales of the Titanic still make us freeze.

The last port of call before the ship's fate

A tragedy that still resonates

But Cobh is more than just a place of sorrow

It's a vibrant town with a bright tomorrow.

The houses of pretty colors line the streets

And the pubs and bars are a lively treat

Seaports and ferries to other lands

And the friendliest people, that's what makes it grand.

The hills of Cobh are steep and high

But the views from the top are worth the climb

The harbor bustles with life and sound

And the boats come and go all around.

A bus ride to Cork, a magical city

With its own tales and charms so pretty

But Cobh has a magic of its own

A place that makes you feel at home.

So come and visit, stay awhile

And let the beauty of Cobh make you smile

With its history, colors, and friendly folks

It's a place that will lift your spirits and evoke.

Spike Island, once a prison so grand

Now a place to explore and understand

The stories of those who lived behind its walls

And the secrets that it still recalls.

The Catholic Church, so grand and tall

A beacon of faith that welcomes all

Its stained glass windows and high ceilings

A testament to the town's deep feelings.

So come to Cobh, and stay awhile

And let its magic make you smile

With its hills, harbor, and friendly folks

It's a place that will lift your spirits and evoke.
