Coltrane

...the lure of vinyl...

By David Philip IrelandPublished 5 years ago 1 min read

Coltrane © David Philip Ireland

in a sun-dark room

the vinyl gleamed

symphonic poems

brave the tomb

the slice of black

Bavarian womb

and storms atop the mountain

with double orchestras

the impasto abstract sleeve

led me to believe

that inside all was cool

a new kid on the block

the Bossa Nova school

and I was right

so blackly bright

the sax and soft guitar

another side of midnight

another slice of summer sun

I chose a love supreme

cool by osmosis

a monochrome mix

in a smokey world

of noir and bleu

lost in the trails of the blue train

performance poetry
