Color

A Dream

By Laura RoklicerPublished 5 years ago 1 min read

I dreamt of a color that I couldn’t place

In any of my palettes of experience

I dreamt of her touching me, in ways

I could only wish to realize

But it’s chaos between my eyes

And I sympathize with black and white

Drawing me in, inside this 3D screen

Where I am just a beautiful silhouette

Dancing on the edge of a framed

Existence, with undivided attention

Unable to break free, from all that I am

In this beaten body, chewing on

Adam’s apple, wanting to tell the world

Nay, to scream at the people

There is a color to which we’re blind

Our eyes are betraying us unkind

But there’s a color that I keep

So intimately in my dreams

And I just want you to see

When you come into my room

And breathe with me

There is a color that we share

In any possible universe

It hides in laughter, just as much

As in the idea of us, alone

There is a color I find

Every time we touch

Just close your eyes

Taste it on your tongue

- it’s where your ego lays

Just dance with me

And forget about

Seeing

surreal poetry
