Mother

Comfort

By Laura RoklicerPublished 3 years ago 1 min read

Mother

Your warmth wraps around my mouth

And carries my tongue beyond the ego

As I breathe you in

Ever so gently

I can taste the summer under your wings

As you slowly take it in waves

Like a comforting blanket

You cover the surface

Of thousands of worlds beneath my feet

Like a cradle

You carry me home

As I lay on my canoe

And rest my hand in you

You make peace with the Sun

Burning through you, to get to me

You merge your waves with its rays

To let me feel

Ah, the breath

It’s all in the breath

As I find comfort beneath

I find comfort in the sea

I always know how you feel

As you flow through me and

Settle for me

You are the purest part of us

Surrounded by sea lanterns

They swim around me to

Reflect the stars and

Soon enough

I’m not sure where is down

And where is up

What a feeling!

The warmth on my skin

The warmth from whence I came

That tailored my shell

And to which I now return

Leaving the ego on the coast

I smile as I whisper:

I am yours
