Would you close the door behind you when you leave? I don’t need anymore of their kind coming in killing my kind because they didn’t learn how to appreciate all of the colors in the crayon box in Kindergarten!
Protest! Fight! Stand up for Yourself! Let’s be peaceful. Let’s raise all types of Hell. Just ignore them.
That was a great protest! How long do you think the pomp and circumstance will last this time?
How many “Sorries”
How many “You’re taking it the wrong way”
How many “I know he wasn’t armed but he should have stayed silent”
How many “I know she was home sleeping but the cop had the wrong address”
Sure, cause that makes sense.
I still haven’t figured out who’s being protected. So why again do I pay taxes?
I’m a stolen people on a stolen land and some how I am less than human. And it’s exhausting!
Why must I negotiate my existence based on how my cells decided to generate. Sounds like a problem to take up with God or Science. Yeah, tell both of them about your displeasure with my vitality. Persecute God and Science for their hand in creating me.
It’s frustrating that I can’t be free in the “land of the free”
Lies. Manipulation. Hate. Repeat.
Tell me what's wrong with brown?
Mahogany, sepia, bronze, chocolate, auburn, chestnut, caramel, hazel, and burnt sienna.
My hair is too curly. My hips too wide. My music too loud. My sass to sassy. But me, we are strong, resilient, soft, and gentle. I, us are courageous, innovative, kind, and loving. But hate doesn’t like love and ignorance finds education rude and invasive.
Close the door quicker. Pull the shades. Turn off the TV. Bury my phone in the cushions so I can't hear what it keeps screaming.
Hold me close. Let us pray. I've voted til I'm blue in the face. Some days I'm scared, others I'm furious, but all of the time I am tired of proving I am relevant.
