amidst the pink, purple California sunset skies

Gray girl

in a sunshine land, rolling along lush, green, and bountiful fields that seem to stretch on for forever

These forever fields, that turn into never-ending freeways,

that dance into one lane highways, that lead to flat stretches of dry, sunbaked land,

that then, mutate into magical forests, and lakes springing with life,

To the grand oceans, and their periwinkle skies, dotted with cotton clouds

All the while,

she is casting silvery shadows,

and leaving footprints of indigo,

As she roams,

traveling to a place, where everything feels violet, and pulses with a well intentioned purpose

She settles in amongst the wine stained earth

Shutting out the plethora of pigments, of California's clear and sunny complexion

Her sapphire heart thumping in her chest as she surrenders

Wholeheartedly,

into the vast cerulean unknown

Closing her tired lilac tinted eyelids,

leaving the quaint California skies she has always known, behind

Enshrined in her mauve hued shroud,

she finally breathes a sigh of golden relief,

she is home.
