Cogito Ergo Sum
by: Destiny Tozier
Freedom isn't free if you're telling me the way to be, I'm sorry it's not enough for you to accept that I'm just me.
I've allowed your conditioning from the way of your positioning with which you chose to stand,
I stayed on my knees just to aim to please the greediness of man.
A villain you decided to paint me just to try to taint me to keep me in your grasp,
what you didn't know is you were diminishing my soul to feed your higher class.
When I walked away with which I bound to stay the truth began to rise,
I wasn't meant to be the evil with your constant upheaval in hopes of my demise.
Now as I leave you alone lacking in your control because I made a stand,
my heart I took back because of your lack to want to hold it in your hand.
Now with where I am today and the time that's gone away, I see the path so clear,
for with what I have found in the depths of my downs you were never something to fear.
I have now such a plan as I watched as you ran when I set my boundaries,
that it's my dreams I'll chase regardless of disgrace from the years of wasted memories.
With three Latin words I willingly let swoon like a peaceful tune whispering softly in my mind,
I think there for I am whether you choose to understand the meanings of my rhymes.
