Cobblestones

Sheer Survival

When the cobblestones are moved

and our paths begin to change

When we stumble in the grooves

that their absences have made

And we wonder with some fear

how the next day finds it's way

Where do we go from here

when that is where you want to stay?

Filling in the cracks

trying to readjust somehow

Cause there is no turning back

no way to change the process now

How are we so surprised

knowing the way time plays its game

Always thought there'd be more time

now nothings gonna be the same

It's not if, darling, but it's when

Don't leave anything unsaid

You can't get them back again

ask while you still have the chance

Too soon the stones are pulled away

with no time to say what you need to say

Say I love you, right out loud

then, carry on, and make them proud
