Coal Dust My Book

In shadowed veins of the earth so deep,

Where silence whispers and shadows creep,

Men like my father worked their way,

Through coal-black tunnels, such grueling days.

George Hurst, a name etched bold in time,

A testament to a life of coal.and grime.

Beneath the weight of the earth he bore,

The strength of a heart that gave even more.

Yet tiredness inside , a heart torn in two,

To feed his family and pay his way

Deceptive smiles, said I am ok, yet dad was ill

The two sides of his health, he had to pay.

Through dust and clings, his spirit was strong,

He fought through days weary and long

A killer of darkness, coal dust kills

A coal-dust man was my dad. It took his life away

“Coal Dust” spoke of more than the mines,

It carried his memory, his courage, dark mines..

A father’s love, a miner’s song,

A tribute to where my roots belong.

So here’s to the man, the love, and the strife,

The two sides of him that shaped a life.

A loving hardworking husband and Dad

Working the coal left lungs really bad.

Through every word, his strength remains,

A shining light in coal’s dark veins.

My hero my Dad, my only best friend

A dedicated job, it killed you in the end.

Note Dad I miss you so much my heart aches
